The Hydro Scout, a portable handheld instrument used to determine the amount of moisture contamination in oil within three minutes.

The test uses a specially formulated calcium hydride reagent to quantitatively convert all the water contained in the sample into Hydrogen gas. This reaction is carried out in a sealed tube and the generated pressure is measured with a matrix-programmed digital indicator.

The Hydro Scout is programmed with six different programs, each to suite the type of oil to be analysed, and each program is to compensate for sample size, dilutions, extractions, reaction efficiencies and conversion to the correct units.

For the marine application, program C, D, and E are used to determine traces of moisture in ppm ranges.

• The Maximum Detection Limit for programs C to D is at 50μg/mL.

• Units measured by these programs are in μg/mL.

• Reagents Needed are : PPM Reagents (HS-LRP).

• Sample volume require to do each test is 5 mL.

• Country of origin of this product is in USA, Connecticut.

• All the Reagents, solvents and dilutions are prepared by the factory in vials or ampoules in precise amounts and sealed in glass.

• The results obtained when using programs C, D and E are reported in μg/mL (displayed as ppm).

• Oils such as Distillate Diesel Fuel which are 100% and Turbine Oil should run on Program C.

• Non-detergent motor oils, brake fluids, and gear oils about 87% recovery should be run on Program D.

• Multi-viscosity detergent motor oils and about 87% recovery should be run on Program E.
